I worked out for 30 Days in a Row and this Happened

Curious what happens when you workout for 30 days in a row?

I am so excited to share my new fitness goals and how using the Peloton app and bike for the last 30 days really changed the way I’ve viewed fitness. Since sharing our Peloton bike on my Instagram stories, one of my top asked questions has been: is it worth the money. So, today I am spilling the details and giving you my honest opinion on if the Peloton bike is worth your hard earned money, and what it’s like to workout 30 days in a row with Peloton.

PELOTON BIKE DETAILS

We’ve had the bike for about a year now, and I can honestly say that it has been one of our best purchases! I was very apprehensive about a few things before we decided to purchase our bike. I wondered, would we ever use it? Would I actually feel motivated throughout the workouts? And was it going to break the bank? So let’s dive into everything we researched before buying our bike and the reality after owning it for a few months.

WOULD WE EVER USE OUR PELOTON AFTER THE FIRST WEEK

I’ve always struggled with working out at home. I love the concept around it, how all you have to do is throw on your shoes and you’re instantly at the gym. The reality, I would end up working out for 10mins, skipping a few of the harder moves and barely breaking a sweat. Investing in a Peloton bike and app is definitely a bigger commitment than purchasing an online program or a few pieces of workout equipment. Which is partly why, I believe I’ve continued to ride our bike. Here are a few other factors that also have helped us continue to ride the bike every week:

  • Our Peloton bike is in a separate room from where we ever hang out.

  • We pay monthly for our bike, so it feels like a membership is constantly being taken out.

  • Peloton has monthly challenges that help to motivate and keep you on track.

  • When I ride the bike it is always first thing in the morning.

  • Your Peloton subscription comes with their app which is packed with yoga, running, meditation and strength workouts.

WOULD I ACTUALLY FEEL MOTIVATED THROUGHOUT THE WORKOUTS?

Yes, a million times yes. When you purchase the bike you also receive a heart rate monitor and headphones. Both of these are crucial in staying motivated throughout your ride. I wouldn’t necessarily consider myself a competitive person, but I am VERY competitive when it comes to myself. So having a heart rate monitor and bike that tracks your calories, miles, output energy and overall points has been one of the main reasons I’ve stayed motivated. These all contribute to the mindset of wanting to be better than the last ride.

Another reason, I’ve stuck with the workouts throughout the entire ride is in large part thanks to the instructors. Once you find an instructor you love, they have a HUGE library of classes you can pick from.

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO WORKOUT 30 DAYS IN A ROW?

Once quarantine started I found myself making excuses when it came to working out, like I’m sure so many others. After working out inconsistently for months, enough was enough. I set out to workout for 30 days in a row, there were not any specific requirements except to sweat. Thankfully we have a Peloton bike and a library full of outdoor and indoor workouts through the app.

So what did my workouts look like? 26 of the 30 workouts were on the Peloton bike, 2 were outdoor coached runs and 2 were Peloton bootcamp workouts.

What was the hardest part of working out for 30 days in a row? The soreness that started to creep in after the first week. I would be lying if I said there were not days where I wanted to skip a workout. But it’s kind of amazing how your body starts to adapt after the first two weeks.

Once I stuck to my early morning bike rides, I started to notice a couple of major changes:

  • My mornings became more productive

  • I woke up craving a Peloton class

  • My mental clarity improved

One of the biggest surprises that happened after consistently working out for 30 days in a row, was that I continued! Now my day just does not seem right if I’m not getting my sweat on with Cody Rigsby or Robin Arzon.

Another burning question I’m sure you all have, is did I lose any weight? I truly do not believe in weighing myself, but I can confidently say that my stomach bloat was gone down and my clothes are fitting better. So while I do not have a loss in pound number for you all, I can confidently say my body is changing slowly.

Excited to keep bringing you all along on my fitness journey this summer!

SUPPLEMENTS I TOOK/STILL TAKE

About 6 years ago I slipped a disc in my lower back, ever since then I’ve had to be very aware of the type of exercise and more importantly recovery work looks like. I started taking this collagen three months ago and it has definitely helped with joint support and connective tissue health.

I’ve also continued to take BPN supplements for my pre workout and post workout recovery. Here is the pre-workout I take and I drink this during my workouts.
