FASHION: Why I'm Making the Switch to A Capsule Wardrobe

Well the day has officially come, I’m saying goodbye to half of my closet and officially opting for a classic wardrobe. I’ve been considering making this move for awhile now, and I’m guessing if you’re reading this post you’ve considered it as well.

Maybe it’s the thought of having less decisions to make in the morning, or you’re maybe you’re like me and find yourself working from home long term. Either way, let’s jump into how to switch out your wardrobe and the pieces I’m focusing my $$$ on.

BENEFITS OF A CAPSULE WARDROBE

The biggest benefit to creating a capsule or classic wardrobe is the simplicity. My days do not really change week to week, unless we are traveling. Working from home is great, but it also has created a “go to” look depending on the seasons.

Another benefit is instead of purchasing trendy pieces season over season, you now have the ability to spend more money on higher quality pieces. Which coming from someone who spent majority of their teens and early twenties rocking Forever 21, is saying a lot.

MY SUMMER 2020 CAPSULE WARDROBE

For my summer capsule, I’ve decided to stay with neutral colors, prints and mix in a few statement pieces. I realize that some of these items wouldn’t technically be considered an “essential” or a typical capsule piece, but I like to incorporate some pieces that are a little different than the capsules you can find anywhere else on the internet.

Starting a capsule wardrobe in the summer would feel somewhat challenging if we were traveling a lot this year. Lucky for us, we do not have any travel plans so here are the categories I’m kicking off my capsule wardrobe with:

  • simple everyday looks: think casual office
