One of the main highlights of Whitefish, is how close it is to Glacier National Park. The majority of our time was spent hiking at Glacier or local trails. When we weren’t hiking, our time was being spent in downtown Whitefish. There are the cutest shops, amazing food and great cocktails at every turn.

WHERE TO EAT IN WHITEFISH, MONTANA

Our family decided to cook most of our meals at our house, but we did eat out a decent amount. Here were a few of our favorite spots:

  • Jalisco Cantina: amazing Mexican food, I opted for their burrito of the day, The Jalisco cocktail and we ordered chips and guac for the table.

  • Buffalo Cafe: we ended up eating here twice during our stay and the food was amazing both times. We had the burger of the week, fish and chips, buffalo chicken sandwich, and ordering their on tap rootbeer is a MUST!

  • Amazing Crepes: let me tell you, they were amazing! We grabbed breakfast from here twice this year and last year - and the Sausage, Egg, and Cheese crepe was hands down my favorite.

WHERE TO STAY

This year we stayed right on Whitefish lake, waking up to the sunrise over the lake was some sort of special. Overall the house was nice, but I think we’ll opt for something with a bigger kitchen and a little more updated next year. Click here to see the VRBO listing.

Click here to see the place we stayed at last year. Overall the house was nice, had plenty of room and a great porch.

Whitefish, Montana is starting to become a family trip tradition and we can’t wait for next year.

FAQs ABOUT THE TRIP

Q: Did you plan the trip on your own?

IMG_4768.jpg

A: My sister and mom did majority of the planning last year and this year. Whitefish isn’t a huge town so finding the best restaurants and places to go is simple. Hopefully, this guide helps you to plan your trip there!

Q: Where are the best places to stay?
A: We’ve stayed in VRBOs for the last two years, they’ve both been nice but definitely have some downsides to them. I’d suggest finding a place on Whitefish Lake, it’s a 2-4 mile drive to downtown Whitefish but still feels remote.

Q: Was Whitefish crowded?
A: Whitefish felt a little busier than last year, especially when it came to restaurants. I’d suggest making a dinner reservation ahead of time so you’re not fighting against a 30-75min wait.
