Charcuterie Grazing Table

How to create a charcuterie grazing table for $50

Have you ever been scrolling through Pinterest and suddenly your eye is caught by a table long Charcuterie table? One that you can not wait to recreate until you read the details and realize you’re going to shell out a few hundred dollars just on meat and cheese. I’m not sure about you, but dropping $100-$400 on a grazing table isn’t something I’m leaping up and down to do. Which is where this Charcuterie table challenge came from! So let’s dive into how this table came to life at exactly $50.78 and how you can easily recreate it for your next ladies night or holiday.

Originally I was going to make a trip to Aldi for all the goods, until I realized a few things:

  1. I’m not that great at doing math on the fly, so keeping track of how much everything costs in the moment was going to be a challenge in itself.

  2. Aaron signed up for unlimited and free delivery from Walmart, which allowed me to plan all of the food ahead of time and keep track of the entire total thanks to their app.

So where do you even begin when you have a tight budget and a large table you’re dreaming of creating? I personally started with the items that I knew were a must have on the table. That was Duck Brand Kraft Paper for an easy cleanup and five different types of cheeses. From there, everything else was simply a bonus!

What all did I purchase?

Now that you have all of your cheese, meat, and table fillers it’s time to start building! Here’s a look at the process I went through when creating our grazing table:

  1. Lay down the kraft paper

  2. Wash all of your produce

  3. Cut up your loaves of bread and start placing groups of bread throughout the table. When placing the bread, start to think of where people are going to stand at your table. It’s comfortable for six people to stand around our table, so I made sure there were six different easy to grab groups of bread.

  4. After you have your bread laid out start to add in the crackers between each group of bread.

  5. Now that you have the bread and crackers out, your table is starting to take a little shape. Add in groups of popcorn on both ends of the table.

  6. It’s now time to add in the cheese! We cut the blocks and brie into sections of four and started adding it close to the crackers.

  7. Take your already cubed cheese and start adding it next to the bread and in between your blocks.

  8. Mix in different groups of salami between the cubed and blocks of cheese.

  9. Add in your grapes, pickles, jam, and yogurt covered pretzels in between the cheese.

Wait to add your soft cheese to the table 10-15 minutes before your guests arrive.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE

Your table is going to look very “strange” as you start to build it. Don’t worry, things will start to come together with the more you add to the table! From a timing perspective start building your table 45 minutes to 1 hour before your guests arrive, add in the cheese and meat 20 minutes before they arrive to keep it fresh.

Add in a fun centerpiece to add dimension to your table! I opted for wine and wine glasses, but you could easily add a floral arrangement or holiday decor. Adding height helps to break up the table and make it more appealing to your eye.
